IEC 62443

Also known as: ISA/IEC 62443, ISA99

IEC 62443 is a series of international standards for the security of industrial automation and control systems, covering asset owners, system integrators and product suppliers.

By Last updated:

The series is organised in four groups: general concepts (62443-1), policies and procedures for asset owners and service providers (62443-2), system requirements (62443-3) and component requirements (62443-4). Central concepts are zones and conduits and security levels (SL 1–4).

For OT monitoring, IEC 62443-3-3 is especially relevant: it includes system requirements for audit log accessibility (SR 6.1) and continuous monitoring (SR 6.2). Many organisations use IEC 62443 as the technical baseline to demonstrate state-of-the-art measures under NIS2.
